A structured independent evaluation used to determine whether a hospitality property meets the Amberdwell qualification standard.

Evaluations may be initiated by Amberdwell or requested directly by a property. The same methodology and qualification standard apply in either case.

Two Routes. One Standard.

Amberdwell-Initiated

Amberdwell may independently identify and evaluate properties through its own research and assessment activity.

Property-Requested

Properties may request a professional Amberdwell Index Evaluation to determine whether they meet the qualification standard.

The evaluation may be commissioned. The outcome cannot be purchased.

01. Review

Relevant property information, guest-facing digital content, reputation signals and available performance evidence are reviewed.

02. Evaluation

The property is assessed through the Amberdwell Index under the defined evaluation criteria and scoring framework.

03. Outcome

The evaluation concludes with a final Amberdwell Index score and qualification decision.

Properties meeting the required standard become eligible for inclusion in the Amberdwell Registry and may be considered for Hotels We Trust.

How the Evaluation Works

Core Evaluation Principles

Amberdwell evaluates demonstrated hospitality performance rather than promotional positioning.

The evaluation is guided by several core principles:

  • evidence over marketing claims

  • execution over facility count

  • consistency over isolated excellence

  • multiple sources over individual ratings

  • professional judgement within a structured framework

No single source or rating determines the final score.

From Qualification to Hotels We Trust

The Amberdwell Index qualification standard determines whether a property has demonstrated the level of hospitality performance required for further consideration.

Qualification does not automatically create Hotels We Trust membership.

Qualified properties may be considered separately for Hotels We Trust, which operates as an invitation-only membership and direct-booking platform.

Amberdwell determines whether the standard is met. Hotels We Trust determines whether a qualified property is invited to join.

Interested in Hotels We Trust?

Hotels We Trust membership is available only to properties that first meet the Amberdwell Index qualification standard.

Properties that have not yet been evaluated may request an Amberdwell Index Evaluation as the first step toward potential consideration.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are properties evaluated?

Properties are assessed through the Amberdwell Index, a structured 150-point hospitality evaluation framework.

Evaluation focuses on demonstrated hospitality performance, consistency and execution across the complete guest experience rather than property size, prestige or the quantity of facilities offered.

Can a property request an Amberdwell Index Evaluation?

Yes.

Properties may request an Amberdwell Index Evaluation directly from Amberdwell.

Amberdwell may also independently identify and evaluate properties through its own research and assessment activity.

Does payment influence the evaluation outcome?
No.

Where an evaluation is commissioned by a property, payment covers the professional evaluation service only.

The methodology, scoring framework and qualification standard remain the same.

The evaluation may be commissioned. The outcome cannot be purchased.

Is qualification guaranteed?

No.

Qualification is granted only when a property achieves the required Amberdwell Index standard.

A minimum score of 130 out of 150 points is required to qualify.

Does qualification guarantee Hotels We Trust membership?

No.

Amberdwell qualification confirms that the required hospitality standard has been met.

Hotels We Trust applies a separate selection process, and qualification does not automatically result in an invitation or membership.

What happens after a property qualifies?

Qualified properties may be entered into the Amberdwell Registry as a publicly verifiable record of qualification.

Qualification also makes a property eligible for consideration by Hotels We Trust.

Hotels We Trust selection remains separate and invitation-only.

Can a property's qualification status change?

Yes.

Hospitality performance may change over time.

Where material changes in quality or consistency are identified, Amberdwell may reassess a property and update its qualification status where appropriate.

Is the Amberdwell Index a traditional hotel star rating?

No.

The Amberdwell Index is an independent hospitality evaluation framework and should not be interpreted as a conventional hotel star classification.

It assesses how effectively and consistently a property delivers its hospitality experience rather than the number of facilities or services it offers.
